Parents
ADULTS SHOULD NOT:- Attempt to coach or manipulate any player while they are playing, as this becomes very confusing for the children, leave all tactical directions to the manager and their assistants.
- Shout, swear, become violent or use sarcasm. Be sporting in defeat and modest in victory.
- Ignore children who need help. Do not wait to see if someone else will help.
- Attempt to referee the game by appealing for free-kicks, off-sides etc.
- Assess players by their incompetence.
- Abuse or argue with the referee or linesman, or prejudice their decisions.
ADULTS SHOULD:
- Praise effort and performance more than results.
- Look for aspects to praise in players who might not otherwise get attention.
- Give them clear examples of excellent behavior.
- Show consistency.
- Assess players with regard to their skills and attitudes.
- Praise good behavior quickly to show adults value it.
- Help, encourage and support.
