Parents

ADULTS SHOULD NOT:
  • Attempt to coach or manipulate any player while they are playing, as this becomes very confusing for the children, leave all tactical directions to the manager and their assistants.
  • Shout, swear, become violent or use sarcasm. Be sporting in defeat and modest in victory.
  • Ignore children who need help. Do not wait to see if someone else will help.
  • Attempt to referee the game by appealing for free-kicks, off-sides etc.
  • Assess players by their incompetence.
  • Abuse or argue with the referee or linesman, or prejudice their decisions.

ADULTS SHOULD:
  • Praise effort and performance more than results.
  • Look for aspects to praise in players who might not otherwise get attention.
  • Give them clear examples of excellent behavior.
  • Show consistency.
  • Assess players with regard to their skills and attitudes.
  • Praise good behavior quickly to show adults value it.
  • Help, encourage and support.
